2d IO Battalion deploys multi-functional Information Warfare (IW) teams worldwide to assess, aggress, train and provide operational support to the Department of Defense and the US Military in order to improve readiness and provide freedom of action in the information environment and deny the same to our adversaries.

Stationed at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia, 1st IO Command is under the operational control of U.S. Army Cyber and the administrative control of U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM).  The Command's Army Reserve Element falls under the administrative control of the 335th Signal Command.
